Our Sustainability Efforts
With a love of reclaimed and vintage furniture and props, our practice is naturally sustainable. However, as a business, we are always looking for ways to improve. Here are some of the ways we stay green at Nikkita Palmer Designs:
Where possible we use water-based spray paints which are better for the planet
We recycle our used batteries rather than sending them to landfill
We provide 100% recycled cans of water for our teams on site and encourage the use of reusable water bottles
We use a service to sharpen our old tool blades where possible to avoid sending them to landfills
Where possible we source office and warehouse supplies from second-hand sources e.g. racking, desks, dishwashers etc
We cut and bag up our scrap wood to use as kindling which we also distribute to family, friends and neighbours
We supply our sawdust to animal shelters and friends and family with chickens
We buy recycled rags to use for cleaning and workshop-based jobs. We also reuse any old materials from our personal waste here too.
We source and use reclaimed timber for our furniture manufacture
Our props and decor are sourced from vintage where possible
Due to the nature of our furniture and props, we work hard to restore and maintain items to keep them in our inventory for longer
We upcycled wooden furniture to keep it on trend and to allow it to be multi-use
We have a new paperless inventory system
Our main van is zero emissions
We regularly source from salvage yards for more unusual or bulk items including reusable plywood, doors, fixings and fittings
We have just moved closer to the workshop in order to walk to work to reduce emissions
